Amalgamated Life was founded in 1943 to protect the financial well being of working men and women. Sidney Hillman, President of the union, then known as, The Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America (which, since merged with The International Ladies Garment Workers Union to form UNITE!) envisioned a cooperative, labor-oriented, cost-effective means of delivering collectively bargained insurance and pension services to union participants. Over the years Amalgamated Life has evolved to include a broad range of affiliate companies providing a full range of administrative services to both union and commercial clients. Today Amalgamated Life and affiliates is a third party administrator, a medical management company, a computer service company and a printing and graphics company. Working together, we provide a full range of benefit sevices to our clients. We have maintained a consistent AM Best's "A" rated company and accreditation by the American Accreditation Health Care Commission for our medical management. Throughout its evolution, two commitments have remained at the core of our corporate mission: to provide the highest levels of service to out customers, and to deliver those services with the greatest value. Flexibility and responsiveness to the needs of our clients permeate our corporate culture.
